細胞核移植分為3類:

1. the nucleus of an ‘unfertilized' oocyte (NT type 1).
2. the pronuclei of a ‘half fertilized’ oocyte (the zygote; i.e. the sperm has penetrated the oocyte but no fusion or syngamy has yet occurred) (NT type 2).
3. the nucleus of a ‘blastomere' of an embryo (NT type 3).
